The farm is in a quiet and picturesque hamlet between two ski resorts : St-Gervais-les-Bains; and Les Contamines-Montjoie. Both resorts have a large number and wide range of ski pistes, from very easy greens to difficult blacks, up to about 2,400 metres altitude. Les Contamines-Montjoie has green slopes directly accessible by foot from the town, as well as cross-country skiing. Both ski areas have stunning views of the Mont Blanc Massif. The Evasion Mont Blanc ski pass (which includes Combloux and Les Houches) gives access to 116 ski lifts and 420 kms of pistes. See the ski piste maps for further details. It is also possible to ski at Chamonix, Flaine and La Clusaz. Les Contamines-Montjoie has five characteristics that contribute to the quality of the ski conditions : its altitude; its proximity to the Mont Blanc massif; the fact that most slopes face North; a wind chill caused by the Col du Joly; and having a grass base (as opposed to rocks).

Each ski resort is about 4 minutes drive (45 minutes walk) from the farm, with ample parking at the main ski-lifts. The farm has a double garage plus 2 additional parking places (there may sometimes be one car in the garage). The local authorities are responsible for snow-ploughing the road to the farm (in certain conditions, snow chains are essential). There is a bus connection 700 metres from and 100 metres below (in altitude) the farm (10 minutes walk down, 15 minutes walk up). Taxis are available in both resorts.

There is a choice of ski schools in both resorts – both the École du Ski Français and international ski schools. Both resorts have several ski hire shops. Ski passes can be obtained and equipment reserved via the internet. 

Both St-Gervais-les-Bains and Les Contamines-Montjoie are charming small mountain towns. They each have a couple of small supermarkets and about thirty shops (generally open until 19.00, including Sundays), a market, numerous bars and restaurants, as well as day and evening activities for children and adults.
